Government Works Inc. (GWI) signed an agreement with
US Government’s Health and Human Services (HHS) and
its Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS)
to provide eligibility, entitlement and enrollment information
to Medicare and Prescription Drug related Plans
SOUTHBOROUGH, MASSACHUSETTS - Government Works, Inc.
(GWI) has agreed with the HHS and CMS to provide eligibility,
entitlement and enrollment information to Medicare Advantage
Plans (MA), Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug Plans
(MAPD) and Prescription Drug Plans (PDP).
These state-of-the-art IT services will service over
30 million Medicare Members who select MA’s, MAPD’s
and PDP’s to service them by providing web enabled real-time
access to data. This will cover 700 CMS contracting
health plans and prescription drug plans that will submit
enrollment data records to CMS data center and enroll
eligible members in the 50 states.
This novel GWI system comprising several modules will
provide customer relationship management (CRM), billing
and risk adjustment, in addition to member and payment
reconciliations that relate reimbursements to appropriate
diagnoses, eliminating mistakes and incorrect fraudulent
payments, improving quality of service while lowering
costs of these government funded Medicare and prescription
drug programs. Another new feature is the health risk
assessment module that helps in identifying members
with chronic conditions that can use the GWI disease
management module.
According to Krishna Ika, GWI Senior Vice-President,
Healthcare Sales, adding value is what it is all about
by using IT in CRM, billing, risk adjustment, health
risk assessment and disease management that will enable
these plans to increase sales and better manage their
member’s health by receiving enhanced payments on the
one hand and on the other improve the overall quality
of care and reduce overall costs. This is a win-win-win
situation for the Medicare members, the health plans
and the CMS that funds it all.

2007:
Government Works Inc.
is engaged with EDS in the innovative Defense Support
Office (DSO) program that includes the DSO Call Center.
This maintains and updates the Defense Enrollment Eligibility
System (DEERS), the single, central, Department of Defense
(DoD) enterprise-wide person repository to protect personal
identities as well as provide strong authentication
for access to government assets.
This program will replace/assist
the legacy Real-Time Automated Personnel Identification
System and the existing Common Access Card System, all
using the same data base of multi-million people regarding
the current and past relationships with the DoD. The
projects in this DSO program are expected to assist
the Enterprise Beneficiary Portal, currently under development,
in dealing with all questions regarding DoD benefits
for service members and others. The DSO program and
its various projects will also reflect policy changes,
new legislation and changes in DoD benefit eligibility
requirements as these unfold in the future.
December 2006:
Government Works Inc.
signs a multi year contract for technical support for
Go Army Educational Initiative (GoArmyEd) as part of
a team headed by IBM. A wide range of services for the
Army Continuing Education System (ACES) operations in
the Army’s civilian voluntary education program
is anticipated by adding new and advanced technological
functionality to its overall educational system in order
to create a robust virtual one stop shop educational
environment.
While this program has
many detailed specifications and applications to active
duty Soldiers, family members and Department of Army
civilians, it has other beneficiaries, such as Soldiers
in Army Guard Reserve Status and US Army Reserve (USAR).
Use of these new and advanced Army developments as a
prototype for other Military Services, such as the Air
Force, Navy and Marines is also foreseen as a benefit
of this contract.
While the contract calls
for the design, implementation, management, control,
operation, maintenance and test to enhance the infrastructure
for on line training and education, it also specifies
quality levels and quality control plans.
December 2006:
Government Works Inc. and the
Defense Mission Systems Division of Northrop Grumman
have concluded a contract for supply of IT services
in relation to US Air Force (AF) intelligence, Command
and Control (C2) and C2 Community needs. These center
on data analysis, modeling and simulation exercises
related to database, communication expertise and computer
security.
In these research and development activities, skills
relating to collection, processing, storage, fusion,
integration and transmission of real time and stored
information are involved.
November
2006:
Government Works Inc.
is currently starting to work on VistA Contractor Support
(VCS) with EDS in providing application maintenance
services. This ten year billion dollar contract will
use specialized skills, business and health care practice
experience and new technologies to modernize computer
code, add new functionalities and increase flexibility
in the underlying VistA and other Veterans Affairs (VA)
packages and programs. Core is provision of timely,
effective and efficient IT services and technical support.
This work was previously
performed with EDS from 2003 to 2006 under the Vista
Contractor and Rehosting Support program.
Objectives include cost-effective
state-of-the-art IT solutions with technical and management
support to match, both at VA facilities and contractor
sites. Emerging technologies are to be utilized in remaining
current throughout this fast changing technology period.
Specific project areas
are services common to clinical and administrative applications
involving Patient Service and many middleware services,
blood bank system, clinical logistics office support,
computerized patient medical records, fee based veteran
services, federal health information exchange (FHIE)
VA/DoD support, project support services, patient financial
services system (PFSS), pharmacy, scheduling, application
development security processes, VistA imaging and Vista
maintenance.

teams with SI International to jointly win the expansion
of SeaPort Enhanced (SeaPort-e) business model for future
Engineering, Financial and Program Management contractor
support services with a focus on implementing cost-effective
and integrated business practices to better support
the U. S. Navy. SeaPort Enhanced made electronic procurement
of Engineering, Technical and Programmatic support services
at NAVSEA a reality. It is providing expertise in IT
services in a wide range of functional areas, including
Software development, various facets of Engineering
and IT applications.

support to SI International in various Engineering and
IT solutions..

2006:
Government Works Inc.
has been teaming with Lockheed Martin in its long term
Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Information Technology
Services (HITS) project to upgrade, consolidate and
support HUD’s nationwide information system. Its
all encompassing activities include the acquisition,
installation, operation and maintenance of the HIIPS
system, including procurement of all computing hardware
and software. With the exception of application software
development, HIIPS replaced HUD’s prior ADP and
telecommunication services.
The program has a long
list of activities covering provision of computer, telecommunications
and networking hardware including work stations and
output devices, systems and DBMS software, documentation,
training and user support, with a two phase execution
of development and operations. It has 23 core and 7
non-core functions. Some of the outstanding core features
are database management, TV/Video conferencing, wireless
and mobile communications and the ever important disaster
recovery, electronic data interchange (EDI) and Security
while some of the non-core ones, such as emergency provision
of supplies and services and IT accessibility have assumed
greater focus as time passes.
